Geology Party

This kid’s  “geology” party was based on Jake’s love of rocks, gems and fossils.  The color theme came from the invitation. We had a candy table with treats that represented gems, rocks and fossils. Small containers with customized labels, “You Rock” were filled with rock-like chocolate. The nostalgic gold mine bags were gum that looked like gold. Various glass and metal containers were filled with with Pop Rocks, jelly beans that looked like gold rocks, blue rock candy on a stick and gold foiled chocolates. The kids loved picking and choosing their own candy rock collection. Cupcakes were decorated with toppers showing Jake’s age.

The children’s activity was excavating rocks and gems with a chisel and mallet from the homemade rock made of Paris of Plaster and water. I included a rock guide so the kids could determine the type of gem they found.  This was a big hit with the kids! No pun intended.

Favors were fossils, gems from the excavating kit and candy.

The kids had a blast with this party and didn’t want to stop digging.
